Exhibits
Back in the Day
Opened in February 2012 in honor of Black History Month, “BACK IN THE DAY” is designed to bring memories from the 1970s on back.
Civil War and Confederate Prison
Our exhibits include letters, weapons, items from the arsenal located in Rowan County, and artifacts from the Salisbury Confederate prison including original lithographs done by prisoners.
Commerce and Professional Life
This room showcases the business and professional life of our community, including advertising, finance, medical, general stores, distilleries, hotels and more.
Community
Rowan’s communities are highlighted, as are our churches and education.
Country Life and Early Trade
A Nissen covered wagon dominates this room and makes a great conversation piece to discuss traveling the Great Wagon Road to settle Rowan County. Other exhibits include Granite and Quarry displays, Carpenter’s tools, and Blacksmith items. Also tools related to wheel-making and Field and Forest tools.
